Saturday, September 22, 2001 – Arrive Beijing

The capital of the People’s Republic of China. This thriving city is also the country’s political, economic and cultural centre. We gathered our luggage and checked into the Olympic Hotel. In the evening we met Sylvana, our Sundowner's Tour guide, and our two fellow train companions, Sue from Australia, and Trisna from Hong Kong.

Sunday, September 23, 2001 – Beijing

Our group got up early and headed to The Great Wall of China, known to the Chinese as the ‘10,000 Li Wall’ (5000km). Rudy and Sue and Trisna went all the way to the top.
