February 14 - Colca Canyon, Peru. We booked a 2-day excursion to visit Colca Canyon. Thirteen of us plus guide and driver drove in a small shuttle bus -- the 5 hour drive, half of it on "Aksfalth" (our guide's pronunciation of 'asphalt'), half on bumpy gravel roads, took us through bleak altiplano. We saw llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas enroute.
