Ecuador 2003: By bus from Quito, Ecuador to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
...........................................................

The only sea-going lizard in the world, the marine iguana is found throughout the Galapagos Islands in densities of 4,500 per mile of coastline, totaling an estimated 200,000 to 300,000. Iguanas were probably among the first creatures to colonize the Galapagos. They may have once been land animals, turning to the sea for food when land resources became scarce.
