That's Chino (probably not his real name - Chino means Chinese in Spanish), a recent immigrant to Ecuador, who had set up a store a few buildings down from Pepi's restaurant. His Spanish was very limited, but he was eager to show us how HE would cook for us and invited us to his place for the next day. (We declined the invitation.)
