March 30 - My birthday! We arrived in Curitiba at around 10:00 PM Saturday night. We found a great place to stay at an Apart-Hotel in the downtown walking district and for the next few days we enjoyed this beautiful city. Curitiba is the capital of the State of Paraná, a mainly agricultural area in southern Brazil. Curitiba's population is about 1.6 million. Curitiba is known as a sustainable, ecological city. This fountain, near our hotel, was in just one of many attractive 'parks' in the downtown area.
