8/4/04: In the cloisters of the Askeaton Friary there is a carving of St. Francis with stigmata. The face of the statue of St. Francis has been worn away as it is believed that kissing the statue will cure toothache. The cloisters are still intact and they are enclosed by twelve pointed arches. Cylindrical columns support the arches.
