On November 18, 2010 Tim picked us up at our house at 5:30am and dropped us off at the Winnipeg airport for our flight to Chile. We had a connection in Toronto and Miami before arriving in Santiago at 7:30am. In Miami we were met by Eddie Hernandez who is the owner of the apartment that we rented in Vina del Mar during Christmas and who also connected us with the apartment that we rented in Cochoa for our first 5-week stay. Eddie works as a flight attendant for American Airlines so he met us at the Miami airport. As soon as we arrived in Santiago we bought us a coffee, got some Chileon pesos from the ATM and embarked on the two hour bus ride to Cochoa, via the Pajaritos bus terminal where we had to connect to the next bus to Vina del Mar and another short bus ride from there to Cochoa. By noon we arrived at our apartment where we were met by Cecelia (apartment owner) and her friend and our translator, Fernanda. To get to the apartment we had to take one of these elevators (ascensors) and another elevator once inside the building to get to our 5th floor apartment.
