We thought that at least SOME restaurants would be open Christmas Eve, but as we headed into the Recoleta area it seemed that everything was closed. Even the cinema and Macdonalds. A few steak places were open but they only offered expensive set menus with entertainment. We all weren’t very hungry; we’d eaten too many snacks – crackers and cheese and chips with our pisco sours. We finally went to a corner restaurant on Las Heras. Only foreigners here – a French couple, some Germans, some English-speaking people. Food was hearty, lots of it, not great, but it turned into a fun evening. The two bottles of wine and the dessert and champagne helped us to get over the stress and frustration of things not working out according to plan.
