Thursday, November 07. In fine conditions, Dhaulagiri I (8167m) and its satellite peaks dominate the western skyline. Annapurna I (8019m), Fang (7647m), Annapurna South and Nilgiri North (7061m) lie to the east, separated from the Dhaulagiri range by the 6,000-metre-deep Kali Gandaki gorge. To the north lies Tukche Peak (6920m) and behind it the trans-Himalayan ranges forming the border of Nepal with Tibetan China. To the east you can see Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhare and Lamjung Himal, and, further east, Manalsu (8156m) and Ganesh Himal (7,406m). To the south, the rolling middle hills slowly disappear into the great plains of India. |
