September 26, 2001 – Ulan Bator

We converted some of our US cash into Mongolian currency at our hotel counter. The top bill is a 5000 Tugrik note and shows a picture of Khublai Khaan (I think one of their bills has Chinggis Khaan on it); the lower one is a 10 Tugrik note, and depicts the horses that Mongolia is famous for.

10.00 (MNT) Mongolia Tugriks = $0.014 (CAD) Canada Dollars, so the 5000 note bill on the top is worth about $7.00 Canadian (as of Fall 2002).
