Poland, October 19, 2001.
After a long day of driving we finally checked into a very poor hotel along the AutoStrada. It was a sort of 'truckers' hotel, and featured a hair salon. Rudy and Sue both had their hair cut -- the first since we'd left home in September -- and the result was quite a short haircut. Later, in an email to friends at home, Rudy described it as having had our heads shaved -- an unfortunate choice of words which led to much discussion and consternation (and some admiration too!) from our family and friends.
