As we headed south on the Cape Peninsula we passed numerous bays and beaches. We kept our eyes peeled for sight of Southern Right whales. These whales, named because they were regarded as the right whale to hunt, migrate from the Antarctic to South African waters where they come to calf and mate every year between July and November, seeking shelter in the shallow bays of the Cape coast.
