Time for lunch. Tim and Alex had met an elderly English couple who were (the only!) guests at the estancia hotel. They had stayed there over Christmas and were staying one more night before going on to Uruguay, etc. They seemed eager to talk with other English speakers. The six of us sat together at a big round table in the dining hall. We had a buffet salad bar – not too bad. Then came the meet. First a bit of sausage, then some beef, then some blood sausage, then some more beef. As good as the aroma had been outside, the meat was not really edible. The Englishman ate the blood sausage, which he said was not quite as nice as the blood sausage they eat back home. There was lots of gnurple and LOTS of fat. Mr Englishman explanation of blood sausage as “basically pigs’ blood” didn’t improve our dining experience.
